Powerful storms and possible tornadoes pummeled towns in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas on Saturday, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming the lives of at least 14 people.
The storms, fueled by a strong cold front, swept across the nation's midsection, spawning tornadoes that tore through communities, uprooting trees, and leveling homes.
In Texas, the town of Hawley was particularly hard hit, with video footage capturing the moment a massive tornado touched down. The twister destroyed around 30 homes, leaving behind a scene of devastation.
The storms continued their destructive path through Oklahoma, where several tornadoes were reported. In the city of Oklahoma City, wind gusts reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, rivaling those recorded during previous severe weather events.
