French Open 2022: Thiem and Jabeur Make Early Exits

Dominic Thiem Stumbles in First Round

Former US Open champion Dominic Thiem suffered a disappointing defeat in the first round of the French Open, falling to Bolivian qualifier Hugo Dellien in straight sets. The Austrian, seeded 18th, struggled with his form throughout the match, committing numerous unforced errors and failing to convert any of his break point opportunities. Dellien, ranked 87th in the world, took advantage of Thiem's struggles, hitting clean winners and breaking serve twice to secure a 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

Ons Jabeur's Shock Exit

In another upset, Tunisian star Ons Jabeur was eliminated in the first round of the French Open, losing to Magda Linette of Poland in three sets. Jabeur, seeded sixth, was considered one of the favorites to contend for the title after her recent success on the WTA Tour. However, she played below her usual level against Linette, who broke serve five times and won 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5. Jabeur admitted that she was surprised by her early exit and that she had not been feeling her best in the lead-up to the tournament.
