Devastating Fires Continue to Ravage California

Thompson Fire Destroys Homes in Oroville

Basin Fire Scorches 13,000 Acres in Fresno County

As California continues to grapple with a relentless fire season, two major blazes are devastating communities and threatening lives.

The fast-moving Thompson Fire erupted in Butte County near Oroville, engulfing homes and forcing the evacuation of approximately 13,000 residents. The fire has already destroyed multiple structures and is threatening critical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, in Fresno County, the Basin Fire has exploded in size, incinerating more than 13,000 acres. The blaze is only 26% contained and is threatening nearby communities and agricultural land.

Oroville is no stranger to devastating fires. In 2018, the Camp Fire killed 85 people and destroyed thousands of homes in the area. The Thompson Fire is the latest in a string of destructive blazes that have plagued the region in recent years.

Firefighters are battling the fires tirelessly, but the extreme heat and strong winds are making their efforts extremely difficult. Residents are urged to evacuate immediately if they are in the path of the fires and to stay informed about the latest updates.
